Description
This patch of rugged land named for its resemblance to the lunar surface is certainly more accessible than the moon – but getting here is still no moonwalk. Though the Moonscape Overlook lies just a few miles outside the town of Hanksville, Utah, it's a bumpy journey by offroad vehicle to get a first-hand gander at this otherworldly environment. But once you've made the trip to this 'moon', feel free to stay awhile: administered by the Bureau of Land Management, this area as well as nearby Factory Butte allow free dispersed camping – just make sure to leave no trace on this delicate desert.
